Troubleshooting Accessory Drive Noise
Chirp, squeal, hoot, and yelp are all underhood noises that cause concern for drivers. Many of these noises have been attributed to belt "problems." In many cases, however, the underlying cause of "belt noise" can be traced to insufficient belt tension, defective tensioner damping, misaligned accessory brackets, etc.
